Apsara Royal of San Jose was founded in 2001 by Sinoun Buth and Keo Lim. Apsara started as a group of only six students seeking to educate children of the Cambodian dancing heritage and now has grown to include 40 students.
The group’s goal is to educate and instill the Cambodian heritage of dance in the hearts and minds of the children growing up in America. Its students learn the art of classical dance and traditional folk dance taught by Visitha Thack and Dora Mongkoul. With the support of the Temple and the Cambodian community in San Jose, California, Apsara holds classes and rehearsal at Wat Khemera Rangsey.
